Republicans Are On the Same Side as the Taliban

limbaugh_fat.jpgRush Limbaugh, the de facto Republican Party Leader said “Folks, do you realize that something has happened here that we all agree with the Taliban and Iran about. And that is that he [President Obama] doesn’t deserve this award.” Limbaugh told his audience referring to President Obama surprising Noble Peace Prize award. “Now that is hilarious,” he continued. “That I’m on the same side as the Taliban on anything. That, we all are. [Republicans] We’re all on the same side as the Taliban.”

Limbaugh’s ‘man buddy’ Michael Steele another Republican Party Leader says the President of the United States is “unworthy” of such recognition.

The Republican Party has already called President Obama a socialist, a communist, and a fascist, among other names, and has compared him to Hitler, Mussolini, and Stalin.Andrew Sullivan wrote in the Times Online back in February:

“Pete Sessions, chairman of the Republican congressional committee, explained that the Republican strategy was going to be modeled on jihadist insurgency. “I’m not joking,” he added. “Insurgency we understand perhaps a little bit more because of the Taliban.”

“Rush Limbaugh, the dominant figure among the Republican base, fresh from broadcasting a ditty called Barack, the Magic Negro, declared in the first week of the new Congress that he hoped the new president would fail. The stimulus bill got no Republican votes in the House.”

President Obama was handed the worst financial disaster since the Great Depression, 2 military wars initiated by President Bush, torture programs, secret prisons, the largest deficit since Lyndon Johnson all supported by Congressional Republicans who raided the taxpayers’ treasury with the largest pork barrel spending on record.

President Obama has set out to end torture and close Guantanamo Bay Prison.  He initiated health care reform with a competitive public option for all hardworking taxpaying Americans as Republicans who passed on hundreds of billions of dollars in debt for a prescription drug program and the cost of war and nation building. President Obama initiated progressive plans to address an energy policy, education, credit card reform, he reduced taxes on 95% of Americans, and worked tirelessly to address the worst financial recession in U.S. history. His administration bailed out a faltering financial system which devastated American and world markets and is attempting to restructure the economy to avoid a repeat of this crisis and Republicans scream to high heavens “he is a socialist.”

Rush said all Republicans are on the side of the Taliban and he gets paid $64,000 per hour to hate America!  The message from this Republican leader 1) He hates the President, 2) He wants America to fail, 3) He cheered when Chicago lost the 2016 bid for the Olympics, 4) He screams President Obama is shifting from Bush’s ‘cowboy’ go-it-alone the world be damned attitude, toward a policy of diplomacy which receives more foreign approval and restores America’s reputation in the world.

Rush is nothing more than a gutter culture warrior, glorifying the lowest common denominator in American Republican society.

Eugene Robinson:

The problem for the addlebrained Obama-rejectionists is that the president, as far as they are concerned, couldn’t possibly do anything right and thus is unworthy of any conceivable recognition. If Obama ended world hunger, they’d accuse him of promoting obesity. If he solved global warming, they’d complain it was getting chilly. If he got Mahmoud Abbas and Binyamin Netanyahu to join him around the campfire in a chorus of “Kumbaya,” the rejectionists would claim that his singing was out of tune.

What do Rush Limbaugh and Republicans support?  Well for the last eight years they:

  • Supported the Bush/Cheney Reign Of Terror and fear mongering
  • Passed an obscene tax break for the wealthiest Americans
  • Invaded a country to capture Osama bin Laden, and FAILED to do so
  • They basically abandoned THAT war and invaded another country with no real evidence that it was threat
  • They lied about WMDs
  • They lied about Al Qaeda being in Iraq
  • They manufactured evidence and lied to the United Nations
  • They tortured prisoners and ignored the Geneva Convention
  • They corrupted the Department of Justice to shield themselves from investigations, and politicized scientific information to prevent any progress on Climate Crisis
  • They fired attorneys who were not Republicans
  • They appointed their corporate friends to the SEC and every other regulatory agency while repealing or ignoring key financial regulations that eventually led to a worldwide economic meltdown
  • They fought against health care for children
  • They fought against minimum wage increases for American workers
  • They all increased their wealth from the taxpayers as they oversaw the greatest division of wealth in U.S. history as America’s top 1% of wealth grew more than all the other 99% combined

And now:

  • They ‘teabag’, engage in conspiracy theories birthers and death panels; the carry guns to political events, disrupt democratic town hall meetings, murdered a law-abiding physician at church, complain when the President supports America’s children staying in school and they have adulterous affairs placing themselves above the law and their version of Christianity
  • They fight against saving America’s economy, this after giving Wall Street $700 billion from the taxpayer’s treasury, with no accountability or oversight.
  • They fight against health care reform and competition to protect health insurance companies, even to the peril of Americans’ lives

And all the Republican while, America’s brave military men and women continue to fight for freedom and democracy abroad.

Make no mistake, this is the Republican Party! They obstruct democracy while becoming the Party of No and Americans who do not support their anti-America, pro-Taliban platform are labeled ‘un-American’.

Why President Obama was was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize?

The Nobel Foundation (emphases mine):

Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts. The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations. Thanks to Obama’s initiative, the USA is now playing a more constructive role in meeting the great climatic challenges the world is confronting. Democracy and human rights are to be strengthened.

Regarding the Republican Party siding with the Taliban and Iran, the Democratic National Committee put it this way:

The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists — the Taliban and Hamas this morning — in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace prize. Republicans cheered when America failed to land the Olympics and now they are criticizing the President of the United States for receiving the Nobel Peace prize — an award he did not seek but that is nonetheless an honor in which every American can take great pride — unless of course you are the Republican Party. The 2009 version of the Republican Party has no boundaries, has no shame and has proved that they will put politics above patriotism at every turn. It’s no wonder only 20 percent of Americans admit to being Republicans anymore – it’s an embarrassing label to claim.

William Jennings Bryan 1896:

Mr. Carlisle said in 1878 that this was a struggle between “the idle holders of capital” and “the struggling masses, who produce the wealth and pay the taxes of the country,” and my friends, the question we are to decide is: Upon which side will the Democratic party fight: upon the side of the “idle holders of idle capital” or upon the side of “the struggling masses?” That is the question which the party must answer first, and then it must be answered by each individual hereafter. The sympathies of the Democratic Party, as shown by the platform, are on the side of the struggling masses who have ever been the foundation of the Democratic party. There are two ideas of government. There are those who believe that, if you will only legislate to make the well-to-do prosperous, their prosperity will leak through on those below. The Democratic idea, however, has been that if you legislate to make the masses prosperous, their prosperity will find its way up through every class which rests upon them.

William Jennings Bryan August 16, 1893:

Today the Democratic party stands between two great forces, each inviting its support. On the one side stand the corporate interests of the nation, its moneyed institutions, its aggregations of wealth and capital, imperious, arrogant, copa passionless. They demand special legislation, favors, privileges, and immunities. They can subscribe magnificently to campaign funds; they can strike down opposition with their all-pervading influence, and, to those who fawn and flatter, bring ease and plenty. They demand that the Democratic Party shall become their agent to execute their merciless decrees.

On the other side stands that unnumbered throng which gave a name to the Democratic Party, and for which it has assumed to speak. Work-worn and dust-begrimed they make their sad appeal. They hear of average wealth increased on every side and feel the inequality of its distribution. They see an overproduction of everything desired because of an underproduction of the ability to buy. They cannot pay for loyalty except with their suffrages, and can only punish betrayal with their condemnation. Although the ones who most deserve the fostering care of Government, their cries for help too often beat in vain  against the outer wall, while others less deserving find  ready access to legislative halls.

This army, vast and daily growing, begs the party to be its champion in the present conflict. … To the Democratic party, standing between these two  irreconcilable forces, uncertain to which side to turn,  and conscious that upon its choice its fate depends,  come the words of Israel’s second law giver : ‘Choose you this day whom ye will serve.’
