The GOP is Urging Restraint in Obama Stimulus Plan
Republicans were ‘kicked to the curb’ in the 2008 Presidential Election. Americans, Democrats and Republicans, spoke loud and clear, it was time for change, it was time for the Republican Party which ran America into the gutter, to get out of Washington. Even so, Republicans are now, all of a sudden, are challenging a President’ Elect’s plan to try to get America back on track, even before he takes office.
Although the GOP is down, they are certainly not out and they are back to their same old divisive and destructive political agenda. They remind me of spoiled little children who do not get their way, to take their toys and running crying to their ‘mammas’.
Republicans did not care what Americans’ thought during their 8 years of manipulating these same Americans who put them into office. They enjoyed the fruits of taxpayers’ money when one of their own was in the White House, while ruining the 10 year budget surplus left by Bill Clinton in 2001 of $5.6 trillion. These same doomsayers have left Americans and the new President a staggering record-setting $1.2 trillion budget deficit.
Did these idiots not get the memo? Americans voted overwhelmingly for change! Americans are hurting, Americans are losing their incomes, Americans are losing their jobs, Americans are losing their savings, and Americans are losing their homes. Thank you George W Bush, John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, and your irresponsible GOP cronies, for putting Americans in the tank.
Now these same irresponsible Republicans are running against more spending which is designed to help move America out of the toilet, to create jobs and help Middle America start to recover from those who robbed the taxpayer’s bank.
It is ironic the Republicans’ President passed a $700 billion dollar bailout for Wall Street and the Financial Institutions, which has not been used to help average Americans. These same Republicans chose not to track the spending of the taxpayers’ money which allowed these companies to use this money to buy up other financial institutions, take luxurious trips, give huge Wall Street CEO Bonuses, and hold on to the rest. This is fiscal responsibility sponsored by Republicans.
In 2008, America has lost 2.5 million jobs alone, retail sales and manufacturing is the worst since the Great Depression. This is the result of an out-of-control Republican Party and President Bush’s fiscal policy.
Under Bill Clinton, Americans saw a period where the bottom four-fifths of the economy did better than any Republican rule in modern history.
John Boehner, the House Minority Leader, is now crying “How much debt are we going to pile on future generations?” Of course he takes NO responsibility for his part direct participation in failed GOP policies.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell cries “We would like, on the spending side, obviously, to avoid funding things like a mob museums or water slides.” What he does not tell Americans, is these are projects submitted to the President Elect, by governors of these states, for future funding. These are not projects submitted by President Elect Obama, nor his Advisory Team. Republicans are famous for deceiving Americans.
What Mitch McConnell does not tell the American public, is he secured over $456 million taxpayer dollars in pork spending for his home state of Kentucky.
The Congressional leaders of the Republican Party, beginning in 2001 under George W Bush, began the highest pork barrel, out-of-control spending in U.S. history – 2001 $18.5 Billion, 2002 $20.1 Billion, 2003 $22.5 Billion, 2004 $22.9 Billion, 2005 $27.3 Billion, and 2006 $29 Billion. However when the Democrats took over Congress at the end of 2006, pork barrel spending dropped significantly; in 2007 it dropped to $13.2 Billion, in 2008 $17.2 Billion. John Boehner and Mitch McConnell have no credibility when it comes to fiscal spending and fiscal responsibility.
President Elect Obama has pledged his economic stimulus package should be free of such pork barrel spending; this demonstrates fiscal responsibility which is against the grain of most of the GOP.
Republicans are also speaking out of both sides of their mouths. What else is new? They finally admit there is an economic crisis, they admit something has to be done, but they say it ‘should not be too much’!
The new era of the Obama Administration is a far cry from those of his former Republicans. Obama seeks input and ideas from all avenues, rather than only listening to what he wants to hear as George W Bush has done. He has his sights clearly in the right direction, rather than burying his head in the sand like an ostrich, as did his predecessor.
It is very disingenuous for Republicans to all of a sudden be concerned about the debt and deficit because they were in power when the decline of America took place and they utterly failed at protecting America and Americans.
Trickle-down economics, as Americans are finally figuring out, is a Republican con game, started by Ronald Reagan and continued by George Bush Senior and George W Bush. Look where it got us. People told Ronnie his trickle down economic plan would be charged off to our children and he said people complaining about it, did not know what there were talking about. Well here we are a generation later and the bill has arrived. $10 Trillion dollars worth and Republicans want to blame the Democrats? Give me a break!
To summarize, America is a deep unemployment pit, enormous debt, 2 wars, and we are now the largest debtor country in the world! This blows apart the decade’s old, deceptive Republican claim that they are for fiscal responsibility. We now find this lie substantiates Republicans are more liberal with Red Ink than Democrats.
